Prof. Russell Keys Oberlin wurde in Akron/Ohio am 11. Oktober 1928 geboren. Von 1948-1951 wurde er an der Julliard School in New York ausgebildet. Sp&auum;ter machte er seine ersten Aufnahmen mit der New York Pro Musica. Er behauptet der "einzige echte Countertenor" zu sein und nicht vom Falsett Gebrauch zu machen. Mit nur 36 Jahren zog er sich vom aktiven Gesang zurück und wurde Gesangslehrer, später Prof. der Musik am Hunter College bis 1994. Er starb am 26. November 2016 in New York. Er sang eine große Vielfalt an Musik, mit Betonung auf Alter Musik, sein Stimmumfang ist gewißlich weit höher als der geforderte Alt.
