Rodrigo del Pozo was born in 1961 in Chile, where he studied singing and in addition guitar and lute. He moved to Europe after having won a scholarship and studied lute with Jakob Lindberg from 1990-92. He studied singing with Nigel Rogers and later with David Mason. His voice type is the rare case of a true haute-contre/tenor altino. He has been a member of famous Early Music Ensembles like the Gabrieli Consort or the Harp Consort.

He performs mainly church music and secular music, in particular operas, of the Renaissance and Baroque era, where he sings alto parts with his chest voice, at least up to an eb'' (Eb5)
