James Victor or "(Little) Jimmy" Scott was born on July 17, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio. He and his brother were affected by Kallmann's syndrome, which prevents the voice from breaking. He has had two careers: The first one from the late 40s to the early 70s, the second career started in March 1991 when he was persuaded to make a CD after having sung at a funeral. He died on June 12, 2014 in Las Vegas.

His sad and melancholy Jazz ballads reveal a very androgynous high tenor, but they do not allow an estimate of his full range.
